BIBLE STUDY & SERMON OUTLINES

The End Time

Matthew 24:1-14; 2 Tim. 3:1-5; 1 Tim. 4:1-3

INTRODUCTION: The last days began after Jesus’ resurrection, when the Holy Spirit came upon the believers at Pentecost. The last days will continue until Christ’s second coming. This means that we are living in the last days. It should not surprise us, then, to see the moral degeneration of society around us. Paul warned us that it would happen, as did Jesus in Matthew Chapter 24

1. PRIDE
(Man thinking he can get along without God. Too proud to admit he is a sinner. Too proud to repent and confess his sins!)
Start of pride (Isa. 14:12-15). Started by Satan.
Sin of pride. All self, none of God. Read Galatians 2:20.
Separation of Pride, Matt. 18:3. Converted, become like children.
Sorrow of pride, Prov. 16:18. Pride comes before fall!

2. PROBLEMS
(The world is filled with problems. These will increase daily)
Children, 2 Tim. 3:2. Disobedient to parents.
Complacency, 2 Tim. 3:5. Have a form, but no power.
Coldness, Matt. 24:12. No love for God, nor the lost!
Confusion, Matt. 24:6-8. Wars will increase each year.

3. PERVERSION
Fornication, the Bible says these people cannot enter heaven (1 Cor. 6:9; 6:18; 1 Cor. 7:2).
Adultery, Exodus 20:14.
Unnatural Sex, Rom. 1:26-28. Notice, “God gave them up.”

4. PERSECUTION
Reality, Matt. 24:9, Hated and even killed.
Reason, 2 Tim. 3:12, All who live godly will suffer.
Results, John 15:18-19, Jesus was hated first, we too are to be hated.
Rewards, Rom. 8:18, Will forget about this when we see Jesus. It will be harder and harder to live for God as time goes by.

5. PEACE
Peaceful life:
Peaceful mind, Phil. 4:7. No need to worry.
Promised peace, John 14:27. Jesus will give peace.
Preserving peace, Isa. 26:3. He will keep us in peace.

6. Peaceful world
No peace to the wicked, Isa. 48:22
No promise of peace in the bible, ONLY TROUBLE!
NO PEACE UNTIL THE PRINCE OF PEACE COMES.

CONCLUSION:
Oliver Greene has a very practical and straightforward comment on unholiness: This is an unholy age. People have lost respect for their bodies. Women (even church members, professing Christians) dress indecently and expose their nakedness. Men do the same. Men and women tear down the temple of the Holy Spirit.

“What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are Gods’ (1 Co. 6:19-20). A person who tears down and destroys his body through drink, tobacco, foods, and habits is unholy in his living.

This is an age when people have lost respect and reverence for a holy God, the holy Bible, and holy living. If you are ‘a good mixer,’ if you can play cards, dance, drink, dress indecently, laugh at a filthy joke, you are a wonderful fellow, a number one citizen; and you can teach a Sunday school class, pray in public, sing in the choir, and hold any number of responsible positions in the church. But the church member who refuses to drink cocktails, use tobacco, attend dances and parties, and who believes in old-time Christianity is called a fanatic or a ‘religious square.” (Oliver Greene. The Epistles of Paul the Apostle to Timothy and Titus, p. 335).

Therefore, since all these things will be dissolved, what manner of persons ought you to be in holy conduct and godliness, 2 Peter 3:11 (NKJV).
